MISSIONARY BIO
Sophia was born in Illinois but grew up in Colorado. She was baptized at 3 years old and spent 14 years as a part of Holy Theophany Orthodox Church in Colorado Springs, where she was involved in many ministries, including singing in the choir, baking prosphora, ringing the bells, and teaching Sunday school for 4 years. She graduated high school in 2022 with 40 college credits and as President of the National Honor Society.
Sophia spent the summer after graduation in Mexico as a homebuilding intern, and after that, she wanted to return immediately to Mexico to continue. But she had other plans to move to Montana. So, she went for a semester and deeply integrated into the church community there in Bozeman. She returned to Mexico the next summer and arranged plans to move back long-term.
Those plans finally came to fruition after a year and a half of waiting for the right door to open, and Sophia has now been in Mexico since January of 2024. She spent the first 5 months working at the baby orphanage (Casa Cuna San Felipe) and then stepped into the role of Religious Education Coordinator, where she will serve for the next school year.
